## Description

Product description Double the Performance of Gen.1 Benefits of a Gen.2 USB-C Dock ✓ Double the Performance (From 5Gb/s to 10Gb/s) ✓ Full 4K 60Hz Resolution ✓ Dual Monitors ✓ Faster SSD Speeds ✓ Up to 100W Power Delivery to SOHO Dock. Up to 90W Laptop Charging¹ Next Level USB-C Gen.2 Dock Built on the concept that more and more of us are working remotely from home the SOHO, or Small Office Home Office Dock, helps bring all of our devices together wherever we are. Double The Performance Of Gen.1 The benefits of a 10Gb/s USB-C device over a 5Gb/s device set it apart from the vast amount of hubs on the market. Whether you want to take full advantage of a 4K 60Hz monitor or connect an ultra-fast SSD, the SOHO Dock has all the features you need. Single 4K 60Hz The SOHO Dock offers full 4K 60Hz resolution for those looking to get the most out of their 4K monitors. In order to achieve 4K 60Hz your computer’s USB-C port must support DP 1.4 (HBR3). Dual Monitors on macOS macOS users looking to add dual monitors can add two displays up to 4K 60Hz² in Mirrored mode. Dual Extended displays are not supported on macOS. Dual Monitors on Windows Windows users looking to add dual monitors can add two displays up to 4K 60Hz² in Mirrored mode, or dual Extended displays at 4K 30Hz². At Your Desk or On-The-Go The SOHO Dock has the ability to be bus-powered, making it an ideal solution for users that need to expand their connectivity on the road. In addition, the SOHO Dock’s dual video connectors and pass-through charging capability make it an ideal desktop docking solution. iPad Pro & Tablet Compatible Not only can you use the SOHO Dock on a traditional computer, you can also use it with an iPad Pro or Windows tablet. This allows users to connect a single 4K 60Hz HDR-enabled monitor and all the various devices that the SOHO Dock has to offer.² HDMI 2.0b & DisplayPort 1.4 Dual SD Card Readers The dual SD 4.0 and microSD 4.0 card readers both support UHS-II speeds that will significantly improve your file transfer speeds. By including both HDMI and DisplayPort connectors, users have the flexibility to connect to the type of display that’s best suited for them, including HDR monitors. Just the Right Amount of Ports Unlike other Gen.1 USB-C hubs on the market that tend to overpromise on connectivity, the CalDigit USB-C SOHO Dock has been designed to have just the right amount of ports in order to not exceed the power output that your laptop’s USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port can provide. 1 x USB-C 10Gb/s (Data Port) 1 x USB-C (Power Delivery) 1 x DisplayPort 1.4 1 x HDMI 2.0b 1 x USB-A 10Gb/s (Data Port) 1 x SD 4.0 UHS-II Card Reader 1 x microSD UHS-II Card reader Pass-through Laptop Charging ¹ The SOHO Dock supports up to a 100W Type-C charger and can offer up to 90W for laptop charging¹. A USB-C charger will deliver power to the dock, connected USB devices, and provide charging for the host device. The SOHO Dock will dynamically charge your laptop based on the required wattage to operate the dock and associated USB devices. USB-C charger not included. Full Speed 10Gb/s Data Port Anyone that has used traditional Gen. 1 USB-C hubs will know that the USB ports offer limited capabilities. The SOHO Dock’s USB-C data port offers full 10Gb/s performance, double that of traditional hubs. Even when the video ports are in use, USB performance will not drop due to bandwidth limitations. USB-A 10Gb/s Data Port Not only does the SOHO Dock feature a 10Gb/s USB-C port, it also has a 10Gb/s USB-A port that allows you to add a keyboard, mouse, smartphone or any other USB device. In addition, you could connect a fast SSD to take advantage of the 10Gb/s speeds. System Requirements macOS 10.13.6 or later | Windows 10 or later | iPadOS 13.6 or later | USB-C (10Gb/s) Laptop or Tablet³ | Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 Laptop Dimension and Weight Height: 0.98 inches (25.0 mm) | Width: 8.43 inches (214.0 mm) | Depth: 3.15 inches (80.0 mm) | Weight: 0.93 lbs (0.42 kgs) Power: Type-C Powered or Bus-Powered Type-C Host Charging: Type-C Host Charging: Up to 90W host charging when using a 100W Type-C Charger¹ | Supports Type-C chargers from 18W In the box: 1 x USB-C SOHO Dock | 1 x USB-C Cable (0.5m) ¹The power supplied to your laptop will vary based on the wattage of the charger you use and how many USB devices you have connected. Power is shared by all USB ports and adjusted based on connected devices. Windows laptops with proprietary charging, or ports without power delivery, will not provide laptop charging. Type-C charger is not included. The charger must be connected to the Power Delivery port. Type-C chargers with a power delivery under 18W are not compatible. Use of Type-C chargers over 100W will not charge your laptop faster as USB-C Power Delivery specification is limited to 100W. ²In order to output at 4K 60Hz, your computer must support DP 1.4 (HBR3). The following Macs & iPad can support DP 1.4 (HBR3) 15” MacBook Pro from 2018 16” MacBook Pro from 2019 13” MacBook Air from 2020 13” 4-port MacBook Pro from 2020 iMacs from 2019 with AMD graphics Mac Pro from 2019 Apple Silicon Macs from late 2020 iPad Pro Windows computers can output Single 4K 60Hz or dual extended 4K 30Hz if system & GPU can support it through DP 1.4 MST hub. ³USB-C (5Gb/s) Laptops are compatible with reduced functionality. *Aluminum dissipates heat quickly through the chassis. Surface may be warmer to touch when all ports are connected. This does not affect the integrity of the internal components. Normal operating temperature: 25°C – 50°C (82°F-122°F)

Review: It works, and it works great. - The greatest selling point of this hub is that the primary connector isn't soldered to the hub, which means if the time comes the connecting cable breaks, you can always swap it out. Not having an ethernet port is a bit of a loss, though I find an ethernet to usb/c dongle works similarly with competitive gaming-level results. Also works great with a steam deck. I did notice that sometimes, the hdmi port wants to be plugged after the steam deck and the external power has been plugged into the hub before it starts working. Not a dealbreaker since it doesn't affect transfer speeds. The displayport never had this issue for me though. Item feels solid, the all-metal housing feels great to hold and very clearly dissipates heat well during usage. Despite getting warm, it never got painfully hot, even after 12 straight hours of use. I'd recommend it for people who want a hub with two good ports for display outputs, and the assurance of a long-term replaceable main cable for their USB hub. As someone who uses their steam Deck daily, this has been an absolute godsend. Can definitely recommend it. If I had to be nitpicky about it, I'd say the lack of an RJ45 port feels weird, but again, it's not a big deal.
Review: Its my SOHO Dock Dead?! - Noup.. Windows Update mess it Up! Dock Works! - The Soho Dock Works perfectly. It output 2 display signas and the transfer speeds are really good. But sometimes the windows USB-C Drivers get mess up and the SOHO Dock May Stop Working. Beware of this issue with the drivers, it could let you think that de DOCK its dead but it isnt. It Happend to me. Worked for 30 Days... them one morning it died completly with out warning. Tried to update the firmware and changing the USB-C cables, and didnt work. The USB Dock isnt even recognice by the software updater. Its like its not there... it just simply died on me. Them i tried out my dock with an Macbook Air M1 and it worked perfectly... so it wasnt the Dock fault.. Windows update messed up the USB-C Drivers and literaly didnt recongnice it anymore. Had to contact my Laptop Manufacturer for the correct drivers, because windows keep installing faulty ones, even if I reinstalled windows or did the factory reset.... Now with the new drivers from the manufacturer, it work perfectly again... Can Power 2 Displays (QHD + FHD) with an external RAID Enclosure with no problems. The SOHO Docks works.... ## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it support 3440x1440@120Hz?**
A: The answer is no. I tested on a 3440 x 1440 monitor with max 100hz refresh. No matter which device and port I tried, including HDMI/DP for monitor, TB3, TB4, USB Type C with DP on Dell XPS and Macbook air with M1 for input, the maximum refreshing rate is 60HZ. So unless the latest firmware is above 1.2.7, it should be impossible to support 3440x1440@120Hz.

**Q: Can this be used with a steam deck to serve as power supply and hdmi connector?**
A: It supports HDMI 2.0b.

For power question you should go to the Caldigit web site and link to this device and under specs it should state if ny of the ports support power supply.

**Q: is output not at 4k 60hz? or doesn't even work if used with 13" macbook air 2019 (intel)?**
A: Yes Full 4K 60Hz Monitor Support. I have not tried with intel Mac but works on my M1 Mac air and an intel windows laptop no problems.

**Q: Can i plug a usb mic to this ?**
A: I don’t see why not. Unless it requires to be connected directly to the computer and not through a hub.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works well so far, but don't depend on or even use the included CalDigit USB-C cable
*by R***T on September 12, 2022*

This was expensive for what I got, but it's really difficult to find a reputable brand that matches my required criteria. Some of my criteria were having a detachable USB-C host cable, fairly high wattage Power Delivery (PD) pass-through charging, and having some 10 Gbps (10 Gb/s) USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports. I wish the dock came with one each additional USB-A and USB-C data ports. My trouble was that when I used it for the first time real-world use (I bought this many months ago but only tested it to see if it worked), I wanted to charge my Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra while having an HDMI cable connected to my 4K LG TV. The display worked fine other than the very top and bottom was chopped off. This wasn't much trouble with the tablet in Samsung DEX mode, but in non-DEX mode, the status bar wasn't visible at all, although I could still pull the notification shade down with my Bluetooth mouse. The trouble was in charging through the dock. I'm using an Anker 736 100W PD 3.0 charger, and I know that although the tablet handles up to 45W charging, a Samsung branded charger is required to handle that high wattage, but I knew that the standard PD 3.0 would still charge the tablet at about 35 watts, if I remember correctly. Using CalDigit's included ~1-foot cable between the Host connection on the dock and the tablet, and trying two different cables (one Anker and one JSAUX) between the Anker charger and the dock while displaying to the TV, the tablet was charging some, but still overall losing power faster than it was charging. Once I eliminated the CalDigit USB-C cable out of the equation, it charged perfectly fine. In this case, I tested with the "JSAUX USB C to USB C 3.1 Gen 2 10Gbps 100W Cable [3.3ft/1M], 4K@60Hz Monitor Video Cable Thunderbolt 3 Compatible with MacBook Pro, MacBook, MacBook Air, iPad Pro, Pixel and More Type-C Devices-Blue" between the dock Host connection and the tablet, and a "Anker Powerline+ II USB C Cable, USB C to USB C (6ft, 60W) USB-IF Certified Cable, Type C Charging Cable, Fast Charge for MacBook Air, iPad Pro, iPad Air 4, Galaxy, Pixel, and More(Red)" between the Anker 736 charger and the hub's USB-C power input. So I'll keep CalDigit's included USB-C cable, but only for USB 3.2 / Gen 2 / 10 Gbps data transfers, not for charging. I may contact the company directly, as it's odd that the cable doesn't even handle 35W when the dock is rated for 100W.
