Great for storing these pens flat (recommended). Colors are an approximate color of the caps. I found them to be quite a lot darker than the caps. You should swatch them before you use them. The paint application is smooth and covers well until you get close to the end. You can layer colors, cover them completely, or add a design to get a bit more contrast. The white pen (perhaps it is supposed to be a blending pen. That is how I used it. I could lift areas of color to some extent. Clean the brush on a paper towel to clean off the lifted color. If you layer another color on top, you will also need to clean the brush between colors. The second color blends with the first on the nib to create a third color until it is cleaned off. (Great for shading or small accents. I use a piece of paper to wipe my "contaminated" brushes on. I absolutely love the way the paint goes on. Sooo smooth. I used them on parchment like paper for Christmas cards and I was able to get an almost water color effect in some areas which was surprisingly nice.
