Everyone always comments on it. It works beautifully and does not leak. I've never seen a cap designed like this. It's like a giant silicone(?) cork. You press it on and just kind of give it a half twist. I love this because it is very quick and easy to open and close (no endless awkward twisting / mis-threading /sloshing / dropping it) and the bottom part is not threaded (nicer to drink out of). I keep thinking I should try glass bottles because they're safer but do you know how much they weigh??? 16 oz of water already weighs a ton to begin with, and to put in in a heavy glass bottle and carry it around on my shoulder all day? That is just not happening.Yes, this bottle has a wide footprint and does not fit in car cupholders. But because of this it's a bit shorter and more squatty(??) than one that would be narrow enough to fit in a cup holder, and so it has a low center of gravity and is VERY HARD TO TIP OVER!!! I love this. I also love that because it has square edges, it DOES NOT ROLL.As much as I'm into practicality, taking a Nalgene camping water bottle to a meeting just feels awkward. This is so much more minimal and professional!The only thing that's frustrating is that after quite a while (a year or so?) the silicone cork in the cap develops black spots that do look pretty creepy. I soak it in diluted bleach and the spots still don't come off. I am a veteran of carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists and now have arthritis, so when I read about the twist cap used to keep these bottles secure, I thought "Oh no." because I find many "safety" caps obnoxious to open. Not this one!The Design for Living bottles have a threadless vacuum-like seal. To close, you just push down on the cap and turn clockwise until you feel it lock. To open, you turn counter-clockwise and then pull the cap up. I have had ZERO trouble opening and closing these bottles nor have I had any problem with leakage. In my experience, these bottles live up to their claim of being leakproof with a watertight seal.These bottles are stackable when laid on their side, and when I initially read the product page, I got the impression that they took up less room in the fridge than traditional bottled water. Perhaps I misconstrued what I read, perhaps not. I took pictures of 3 bottles each of Design for Living bottles stacked vs. traditional bottled water and they take up almost exactly the same amount of space. Perhaps if I was comparing SIX of these vs. SIX traditional bottled water, that space-saving feature would be more noticeable, but with 3 it isn't. Photos are included with this review..Stuff I really like--These bottles:Are BPA free!Are beautiful to look at, esp. when compared with store-bought bottled water.Are super sturdy without being much heavier than store-bought bottled water.Have a comfortable, ergonomic shape that is easy to grip.Don't collapse if you happen to squeeze them while drinking water.Are comfortable to drink from, esp. since the neck is threadless.Are stackable. They are most secure when stacked up against the side of the fridge vs. having them free-standing in the middle of a fridge shelf.Are dishwasher safe. Mine have been through the dishwasher twice now and came out looking just as great as when they first arrived.Have a wide mouth which makes refilling easy.Stuff I didn't like--the packaging. Specifically:There is wording on each cap telling you how to open and close the lid. When the bottles were new, I thought that was permanent. Since being through the dishwasher, I see now that it was just stickers (2 per cap) and now the lids are a mess with partially on-partially washed off stickers. Getting them off manually isn't easy. I was trying to avoid using something like Goo Gone as I wasn't sure it would compromise the material the cap is made from. Will test that out.My suggestion for the manufacturer would be to put directions on the cap in a way that is obviously to be removed but leaves a clean surface. My thought was to use a clear, breakaway plastic like is used on the necks of spice jars, salad dressings and such.Also, when the bottles arrive, they each have a label GLUED to them giving the name of the company, explaining the features, etc. It was just spot-glued in big globs, not glued from end to end, but it was still pretty obnoxious to remove. I think the manufacturer can find a better way to do this!All in all, I highly recommend these bottles. They are attractive, washable , and do not leak. However, they do not fit into most cup holders .
