It mixes very well and sets you up with a lovely source of watercolor mix that can be refreshed with a bit of water. I started using the gum arabic for mixing up inks with Pearl EX Powder Pigments. They make beautiful pearlescent product that can be painted onto paper or canvas. I use them for writing with calligraphy dip pens. They look great, but if just mixed in water, the Pearl Ex is not durable and will smear off. Gum arabic to the rescue. It fixes the pigment on paper after it dries completely. Gum arabic can be rather gooey. The amount used should be controlled carefully. (I use 1/4 tsp to 1 tsp of water most of the time.) It's best to let the finished product dry completely before handling. I find the liquid gum arabic convenient to use. It's also handy when I want to add a drop or two to adjust properties of ink. Oxygen will cause it to go bad over time, so I minimize exposure to air. As it ages, it will turn more yellow. I like the shape of this little bottle. I normally use a blunt-tip syringe to transfer the liquid, but it is easy to pour from this bottle.
