Take it to tech and have them check the gears. Or crack it open yourself and look for metal shavings. **Q: does my 2005 4.6L lincoln town car use this? cant find any info** A: IF your Town Car has a limited slip differential then this fluid is indeed the proper additive if you are going to be renewing the gear oil in your T C. **Q: can this be used on my 1997 awd mercury mountaineer** A: This is used for a clutch type rear end? **Q: must I change differential oil before adding or can I add to oil already in it?** A: You could add it to the oil that's already in there but you may need to remove some oil to make room.
