Much cleaner to use than I'd expected, excess airborne ashes are sucked up the chimney and the remaining hot coals start the next fire without a need for paper or kindling. My only complaint is in the packaging. Bolts and nuts were loose inside the box with one bolt missing. I think the design could be improved with a heavy wire mesh with similar sized openings and would shed the fine ash easier, cleaner and more quickly. the size and shape are perfect otherwise.
