The Aston SPIRIT is a high-performance, switchable pattern, microphone utilizing a 1” gold evaporated capsule. A switch on the mic body selects from Omni, Cardioid or Figure-of-Eight polar patterns. It's bright without being harsh - it almost has a ribbon-like quality to the top end that is very pleasing. It works better with a separate pop filter, although the built-in design helps somewhat. The HPF is a bit too high for use with male vocals so I usually leave that off. Having a multi-pattern mic that sounds great for under $400 is a pretty amazing proposition. To make a significant upgrade to my home studio mic would probably cost thousands of dollars. This unit may well be a best-in-price-class piece.

**Q: What do I use to remove the mic stand thread to fit 5/8 stand?**
A: It's easy, can probably use your finger, or else a coin will get it turning (it is slotted),.so it takes 6 seconds to remove.

**Q: I got the xlr cable....do i plug it into the interface? I have a Focusrite but the cable doesnt fit.**
A: Yes, there's preamps on the front of the interface. I would strongly encourage outside research on signal processing and audio equipment if this is a legitimate question

I bought this a few months ago and I must say I'm digging this mic quite a bit for vocal work. It's bright without being harsh - it almost has a ribbon-like quality to the top end that is very pleasing. It works better with a separate pop filter, although the built-in design helps somewhat. I think the amount of positive feedback these mics are receiving should tell you something about how amazing they sound. I just simply want to say that if you purchase these mics, do yourself a huge favor and buy a 6" gooseneck! I use my Spirits for drum overheads and apart from them sounding incredible, adding a little gooseneck makes this a perfect microphone. The internal shock absorption is actually really impressive! Amazing mics for the money! Grab you a couple!
