This device is not a slicer but a chopper as it says. It does a wonderful job at chopping veggies into smaller pieces. You need to do a little work to cut the veggies into pieces that will fit into the chopper. After that, just pull on the pull bar and in a matter of seconds, you chop the veggies to the size you want. Really great device that is easy to clean. Be careful because the blades are very sharp. I've had the chopper for 6 months. The “chop-chop” also comes with a separate arm to help with chopping small amounts of herbs and garlic, basically it scrapes the bottom to lift the food into the path of the blades. There are a few esthetic differences as well. It looks like the “chop-chop” is a newer design and its currently $2 cheaper. **Q: Can the top part be thoroughly cleaned (as not to leave damp inside)?** A: The only actual hole in the lid is where the rope attaches to the handle on the side, the bottom can be wiped and rinsed clean without getting water inside the lid. Now I wouldn't submerse the entire lid under water but it can be simply and carefully cleaned. Above the metal blades on the center piece there is a plastic blade that spins to keep food bits from building up too much on the lid. **Q: Does it chop garlic well?** A: It's not that good for garlic, the garlic cloves tend to sit at the bottom and you wont get an even chop; however, it does work great with onions, tomatoes, herbs, and for making guacamole.
