If you assume the 2000 mAh energy capacity for a NiMH AA battery, it would take 125 hours (5 days) to draw that much energy. A typical boat battery depending on what you have will be 15x-50x more energy and could run those LEDs for almost a year. IF you are really that power conscious you can wire up a switch to cut power to the LEDs or simply disconnect them. With boats I wire up master power switches for short term storage to cut power to all the accessories to eliminate any parasitic draw. For long term storage I remove the battery and put it on a maintainer. **Q: Is there any 120v version of this? For home appliances?
