There is a 1000:1 voltage divider internal to the probe. The probes "output" (plugs to meter.) impedance is ~1mohm (the 1 portion of the 1000:1). The meter needs to be at least 10mohms input impedance to maintain the general rule of being =>10x the piece being measured in order to avoid loading and and incorrect low results etc... **Q: How does the meter know it's reading high voltages? Or does it just tell you the reading in 'volts'?** A: The meter won't know that it's connected to a 1000:1 divider probe such as the 80K-40. The user will have to convert the reading (where 1V on the meter represents 1000V on the circuit). **Q: Dear Sirs!
