A day ? A week ?** A: Hard to say, I did a 20% water change every week. This product makes the water higher in pH. **Q: Does this need to be used at every water change or top off??** A: I use it after water changes but I always check the KH of the water before adding the product. It is very powerful stuff so I suggest following the directions on the back. I try to keep my KH around 4-6 along with my GH. I would not put this in every time you top off. **Q: I used too much seachem alkaline buffer and now my kh is too high. how do i remedy this other than a water change?** A: You could add Seachem acid buffer to bring it down. Most use the two together to get to correct alkalinity & ph desired. We drop it into some dechlorinated, treated water during routine water changes so it can dissolve before hitting the aquarium.
