I use it on an old German fiddle without a preamp and it works fine through the three different sound systems I've hooked into so far. The construction is quality, no fiddly bits to break off. Glad I bought it! Edited 3/21/18: I recently purchased a Behringer V-Tone Acoustic Driver DI to improve the sound.
