## Description

As IT security is a primary concern for most organizations these days, hardware and software developers at CHERRY have responded accordingly with an innovative new security device. The latest addition to the CHERRY Security line, the CHERRY SECURE BOARD 1.0, incorporates a smart card reader into a reliable office keyboard in an ergonomic design. This device can also be operated in two modes - Standard and Secure Mode. In Standard Mode, the SECURE BOARD 1.0 works like a standard keyboard with an integrated card reader. The card reader features both contact and contactless/NFC card reading capabilities. For an added level of security, the SECURE BOARD 1.0 can be operated in Secure Mode to encrypt keystrokes as a preventative measure against keylogging. With this feature, the device can authenticate itself with a certificate, and the key transmission is encrypted. This innovation would make it nearly impossible for keyloggers to intercept sensitive data such as passwords. The Secure Mode also protects against BadUSB attacks, by locking the USB channel, thus, preventing any other devices from malicious activity, providing secure communication. Aesthetically, the SECURE BOARD 1.0 appeals to a classic style sensibility. A flat, ergonomic design complete with adjustable footing provides users with comfortable hand placement. The integrated Class 2 reader, which works for ISO 7816 and ISO 14443 A/B-compliant smart cards and cards/tags with an RF/NFC interface, is stable enough for one-handed operation. The combination of a reliable office keyboard with a high-functioning card reader also offers a space-saving solution! Built to last, the SECURE BOARD 1.0 features keycaps with abrasion-resistant laser inscription, making it robust enough to withstand years of continuous work.

Review: Cool secure keyboard at a reasonable price - If you know anything about quality keyboards you've no doubt heard of Cherry. They're best known for keyboard switches, which have burgeoned into a huge industry driven by high end gaming keyboards. This keyboard might not be your best option for gaming but it feels good to type on and includes a smart card reader. The star of the show is the keyboard's 'secure mode' which actually encrypts your keystrokes! This makes it exceptionally difficult for a keylogging device to intercept passwords or other sensitive data. I will say that if you're looking for a keyboard for pure typing speed there are likely better choices. Ditto if you're looking for a gaming keyboard. For a security-centric use case, however, this device can't be beat and it's sold at a downright impressive price point. Highly recommended!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Reliable Security Keyboard
*by K***T on April 24, 2024*

The CHERRY Secure Board 1.0 is a fantastic solution for enhancing security in the workplace. I have to use a card reader for access and it's a better solution than putting my card in my computer because I sometimes forget and walk away. Then I get locked out of my building **sigh**. Embarrassing for sure. Hooking up the keyboard was straightforward, and I was impressed by its compatibility with PC/SC smart cards and CCID. The protocols support ISO 7816 and ISO 14443 A/B compliant cards, ensuring seamless operation. It also offers ergonomic design and responsive keys for comfortable typing during long work hours. Overall, the CHERRY Secure Board 1.0 is an excellent investment for anyone prioritizing data security in the office environment.
