It doesn't charge phone. **Q: What is the size of the base where it would stick to the dash? (ie. 2”x2”)** A: Not at home to measure..it is small. It is everything that I could have asked for. Originally I was going to get a MagSafe one that charges the 12, or one that incorporates the Apple MagSafe charger (and charges the 12), but decided that I did not want my phone charging constantly. I researched extensively. This one sticks to the dash wonderfully (I did let it set for 12 hours like it recommends), the magnet holds it plenty strong for the mighty 12 Pro Max (almost hard to shake it off in your hand), and the ball joint is great and holds it at whatever angle you set and lock it at. Very impressed. I bought another for my truck too. I also ordered a vent mount one for when I am in a rental car or her car or whatever. It is also available in a flat mount option and another option or two. Comes with a metal plate for non MagSafe applications, but I did not need it. It works AS-IS with any iPhone 12 model or with a MagSafe case as I have. Do it. This is the one! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Strong magnet. This allowed me to place it on one of the few tiny parts of my dashboard that hard plastic and not covered with textured leather. This was a great mount that used daily during my commute. The only unfortunate thing is that when I shipped my vehicle to my new home, the mount was MIA when I picked up my car. Not sure if it was swiped by one of the transport personnel, or broke en route and removed so I wouldn’t clock them for potential damage.
