He really wanted to build a boat and this gave him the chance to build two. He loves them. The instructions were easy for him to follow without help from us. The styrofoam parts eliminated the need for any tools other than the plastic screwdriver it came with. The little wind-up propeller makes them perfect bath toys-- though it would have been nice if it included two props instead of just one. My 3 year old was interested as well and my 12 year old jumped in and got involved because he couldn't resist the fun.
