I bought it to locate an air conditioning line set in a wall. We weren't sure which wall it came up in and didn't want to cut a bunch of exploratory holes in other walls to find it. I tested it with known studs and pipes in my own walls to get a feel for how it identifies things. It found studs easily, and picked that I have as a chase pipe in my wall. It found the copper lines as something like 'pipe or electrical' (something like that). Would be better as a single piece with a screen of its own instead of how it uses your phone. Makes it a bit less user friendly. It does work though, no doubt about it.
