I think the nice quality of the narrow elastic band at the top helps to keep the sock in place...it's not too tight, but it does seem to fit more nicely than some other brands in this price range.While my husband is a runner, these are not the socks he usually uses for his long-distance training runs. Instead, he generally just uses these socks with other athletic-type or casual shoes for everyday use. As a marathoner, he favors some other socks that are more specific to running and racing.
