The Bosch GOP12V-28N 12V max Starlock oscillating multi-tool features the Starlock next-generation 3-D tool-accessory interface. This cupped and contoured 3-D tool-accessory connection delivers greater torque transfer. The efficient 12V max EC Brushless motor delivers a top speed of up to 20, 000 oscillations per minute, with great runtime. The tool has a 2.8° oscillating Arc for outstanding productivity. A variable-speed dial allows the user to set the optimal speed for the task at hand. This light, ergonomic and compact tool reaches tight spaces. It utilizes the many Starlock accessories to handle flush-cutting, plunge-cutting, sanding, grinding and more. It's an ideal tool to flush-cut doorjambs. What makes this platform so appealing is the balance it strikes between portability, ergonomics, and performance and price. While the smaller batteries don't offer the runtime of larger 18V systems, they are lightweight, quick to swap, and more than capable for most DIY projects. This oscillating multi-tool had been on my wish list for quite some time, and I finally picked it up during desertcart Prime Day 2026. I also own a corded Dremel oscillating tool (another Bosch brand), which has served me well, but it is noticeably larger and heavier. As a DIY enthusiast rather than a professional contractor, I wanted something more compact and maneuverable, and this tool fit that need perfectly. The first thing that impressed me was how incredibly lightweight it is. Even with the battery installed, it feels remarkably balanced and comfortable in the hand. That reduced weight makes a huge difference during detailed work, allowing for much better control and significantly less fatigue. Bosch's blade-changing mechanism is simple and quick, making accessory swaps easy. The tool includes a general-purpose blade to get you started, while Bosch offers a wide variety of specialized blades for wood, metal, drywall, grout, and other materials that can be purchased separately. What surprised me most was the performance. Despite its compact size, the cutting power is outstanding. On the highest speed setting, it delivered performance that felt comparable to my much larger corded Dremel oscillating tool. I have already completed two home projects with it, and the combination of power, precision, and maneuverability made the work much easier than expected. This is clearly a premium-quality tool. **Q: Is this tool compatible with bosch 18v batteries?**
A: No it’s the 12V (or 10v for the European line), but not 18v. 

Also be advised it’s not a true StarLock. It uses StarLock blades, but lacks the quick release.

**Q: Does this come in an insert tray? What is the packaging?**
A: No insert tray. 
Packaging is just the normal consumer packaging. The small plastic box that comes with it is large enough to hold a dozen or so blades or a couple dozen sanding pads.

What makes this platform so appealing is the balance it strikes between portability, ergonomics, and performance and price. I also own a corded Dremel oscillating tool (another Bosch brand), which has served me well, but it is noticeably larger and heavier.
