No difference in the quality from the expensive brush that I do have. Frankly, these are many more than my average needs, but they are so worth the price. The tallest one is definitely somewhere between 5-6 inches and they just get smaller from there.- not metal, plastic and the neck feels a little loose, like it might break if I press too hard against my face so I grab it by the circular part like it doesn't have a handle at all to apply my makeupOther than that, they are as soft as everyone is saying and they are definitely funner and faster to apply makeup with. They do take some getting used to but I love them so far!PROS:-very soft and smooth on the skin-they DO NOT soak up product-works well with powders and liquid makeup-even if you get too much product on the brush, the brushes can blend it out and make you flawless again-the long brushes work wonders as an eyeliner applicator and the eye shadow brushes pack on the pigment without fall outCONS:-The necks of the brushes need additional support from your index finger when using the larger headed brushes (it is not metal as I had hoped)-the shipping box was fine but the box that the brushes were packaged in was smashed (this has been fixed by customer service so at least the DSCbeauty team is on point)OVERALL THOUGHTS:These are well worth the money. While I wish that the necks were thicker/more stable on the larger headed brushes, I do not see how the heads could feel any more soft or luxurious on the skin. Even if I had all the money in the world, I would buy these over the Artis Brush Sets as these brushes are a far greater value when weighing pros and cons versus the price point.EDIT:I now have these brushes in Purple and Black/Rose Gold. The major difference between the two, besides color, is that the purple does not have a silicone handle but it is one piece.
