Initially I was a little put off when I saw that the product consisted solely of a 100-foot-long tube of tough vinyl sheeting. The price, which was about $21.00 when I purchased it, continues to irk me considering what it is. However, the product does seem to do the job, so I'm pleased overall.Pros: The RainDrain stays rolled up in a tight roll (about the size of a roll of toilet paper) next to the downspout or drain end. While rolled up, it's very unobtrusive and blends right into the landscape. There are no unsightly and bulky accordion drains to step over. There's no rushing out in the middle of a rainstorm to attach a drain extension. When unrolled, it lays flat on the ground and is still a great deal more unobtrusive than an accordion drain would be.With the TB100, you can move water a full 100 feet from the source--a much longer distance than you could with a regular accordion drain. This makes the drain especially useful in rural settings.The RainDrain automatically unrolls itself using the pressure of water coming down the downspout. That, alone, is a pretty awesome feature. It was easy to attach to the curved bottom end of the downspout using a metal cinch clamp. A clamp specially fitted to the downspout would have been better.The vinyl appears to be durable enough to last at least several years.Cons: The most notable detractor is the price. For $21.00, the manufacturer could have at least provided a rectangular downspout clamp to provide at least the pretense of getting your money's worth.Some other reviewers have complained that the product does not automatically roll itself up. It doesn't. I don't see how it possibly could, given that this is simply a tube of thick vinyl sheeting. There are some other similar products that roll out on wheels, and which do purport to roll themselves back up, but they are much shorter than the TB100. I have no idea whether they work. I wouldn't bet on it.This product may not work well in heavily landscaped settings. The roll does not always unroll in a straight line, and when it hits a shrub or other obstacle, it can become horribly twisted, resulting in a volvulus--type situation (for those of you with no medical background, visualize a twisted intestine with a large meal behind it). This occurred the first time I used the product, and I was required to straighten the tube out manually. Had I not been home, and had there been a heavy rainfall, I can imagine the water pressure either blowing the tube off the downspout or the gutters backing up. One hundred feet is a long distance for a tube to unroll without hitting any obstructions. My remedy was to cut the tube at the shortest length necessary to meet my needs. I'll use the rest of it to extend a second drain.Overall, I'm happy because this product has solved a real problem for me. But I'm still aggravated about the price.EDIT: I've downgraded my rating to three stars now that I've had a chance to see how this product performs through a couple of actual rainstorms. At the time of my initial review, I had observed it through only a minor sprinkle. My observations:1. The vinyl sheeting, while appearing to be fairly tough, was perforated in several spots after the second use. I don't know whether this was the result of it snagging on a twig, a bird pecking at it, or what, but at this rate I'll be lucky if the product makes it through a full season.2. The roll does not unwind in a straight line, and it frequently becomes twisted if it encounters any obstacle. In windy conditions, the tube flaps around and can become tightly twisted around itself. This prevents water from getting past the twisted spot, resulting in backed-up downspouts and/or the failure of even the most secure downspout connection.3. Winding the tube up after a rainstorm is cumbersome because there is nothing to wind it around. You pretty much have to find something (a toilet paper tube?) to serve this purpose.
