I'm wondering if I can replace them with a higher amperage solenoid?** A: Winches use series wound motors which draw SERIOUS amps under a load. These were designed with this in mind so a higher amp rating really won't help. In addition, these are solenoids which act as a high amp switch so the power to the motor isn't routed through the controller. Under these conditions you would run a greater risk of burning up the motor with a higher rated solenoid if the OEM spec part was designed to fail first before that could happen. What kills these is water and/or low voltage. In use, ozone is created which is highly corrosive to electrical contacts so the early ones were vented which allowed water to get inside like when pressure washing off the mud that you just winched out of. Low voltage can cause the contacts to bounce creating arcing which can weld them open or shut. My advice: if one fails, replace the set and stick with genuine WARN parts. I replace mine every 3 years in under an hour and at $50 a set, its CHEAP insurance. Chinese imitations are JUNK, stay clear! This is one component you don't want to fail when needed most... **Q: Are these continuous duty 12V DC and what is the current for make and break and inrush** A: Sorry, I cannot answer that question. I do not know but my winch continues to function great. **Q: is this price for one solenoid or four?** A: We received four when ordered and delivery was really quick. **Q: Will these work on my Warn 8274** A: Yes, these are the exact replacement.
