Review: Not just for kids - Better quality than expected—the board is hefty and about 31 cm x 32 cm x 1.6 cm. The stones are of adequate quality. The flat side gives a stable feel, even if it’s slightly lighter at 2.5 g each. I decided to buy this over the other full sized one (even though that one has great reviews also) because I know that I would never have the patience to play 19x19 and that 13x13 already provides enough depth—besides there are a lot of other board games I can play with this setup, like Pente, lines of action, ayu, and symple. The full size board would’ve been very clunky to carry around and seem quite intimidating.
Review: Does not come with rules - Bought this to take to our local Go Club for playing with beginners. The bamboo board is lovely, though there is a very slight marring on one etched board line on one side, but in the spirit, we simply choose to celebrate the imperfection. The plastic bowls have locking lids, making them great for travel or storage. the single-convex stones are durable and good-looking, and are great for beginners as they are easier to place on the board. The stones are a little big, and end up feeling a little cramped if used on a regulation sized 19x19 board, but overall this is a wonderful beginner set and is highly recommended.
