My tap is at 140ppm, not looking for a massive drop maybe under 100ppm for my carnivorous plants** A: This water filter is not intended to lower the PPM of your source water it is designed to remove chlorine and similar compounds, that being said it might lower your PPM but I can't say for sure how much. If you are looking for levels lower than 100PPM I would suggest that you get a reverse osmosis filter as carnivorous plants like a very low PPM rangel. So long as you have a standard hose fitting. **Q: What is filter micron rating?** A: This is a carbon filter not an RO filter it will not greatly reduce the ppm of your source water, it is intended to remove chlorine and chloramines it will remove some heavy metals as well. Scott **Q: Can I use this filter as a substitution for a y filter for my drip irrigation system?** A: From the manufacturer: Y filters or strainers are intended to catch any solid particles before they reach the irrigation system. It would be best to leave the Y strainer in place and use the Boogie Blue as well for the system.
