    "Sarah's Sin"

*by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2012*

Having read several books on the Amish life, I can say in my personal opinon, Tami's, "Sarah's Sin" is very amazing, plausible, at times funny, always heartwarming, sometimes sensual and most of all dramatic. Sarah's Sin is a nail bitting novel about a young Amish widow who also lost her son Peter to pneumonia. As she went to work for Ingrid in managing a bed and breakfast, she was also expected to care for Ingrid's convalesing physician brother. As the story unfolds depicting a not very wordly Amish young woman and a very worldy big city physician Matt Thorne, Tami pens a most romantic description one can imagine. As she describes the intimacy shared between Sarah and Matt it is done very tastefully and yet is very descriptive. Being Old Amish Sarah's faith would never let her marry an Englisher - this could demand she leave her family, her faith and the world in which she was born and grew. Without revealing a very dramatic event there are some hearts that are seemingly softened, but not relenting. I believe this is "the" pivotal point in this book. The constant volley between the Amish life and the English life keeps heightened interest but sometines instils frustration. There are some scenes where you will want to laugh out loud when the bed and breakfast visitors arrive for the week-end. There are scenes you want to just jump in and "make it better." There are times that you want to shake the dickens out of Sarah's father - but then, he's only following his faith. Of course I won't reveal the end of this novel, but I promise you, you will truly enjoy it, you won't be able to put it down until you've read it to the end but most of all you will have gained a marvelous insight into one's choice in life. Can not recommend this book strongly enough.

### ⭐⭐⭐

It is a simple love story, pleasant and passable

This was a pleasant light read. It is an example of Tami Hoag's earlier romance novels. I prefer her early ventures into the murder mystery genre. I picked this book hoping for the latter. which it is not. It is a simple love story, pleasant and passable, but not a book I would recommend. Now just because I have a forum for it I would like to say that, I have always enjoyed the intrigue, detail and love interest in Tami Hoag's murder mystery books. She has become entirely too graphic in the cruel descriptions of the murders in her recent books so I won't buy or read them anymore. She lost the joy of the sub-plots of romance and the eccentricities of the local people that were the high points of her early mysteries. They are now just horror stories of the worst kind, focusing on the blood, guts and sometimes torture involved in the murders.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐

    A true romantic novel.

The first book I read of Tami Hoag's was 'The Ninth Girl', followed by 'The 1st victim' and I really enjoyed them both. They were very intriguing murder mysteries; on that basis I picked out 'Sarah's Sin' expecting it to be a murder mystery also. Well what a surprise, while romantic novels are not my first choice, I really enjoyed it (all be it that I was still looking for the murder half way through). I am now a real admirer of a writer who can write such diverse stories so well.
