Review: Okay, so here's my litter story. When I got my 2 cats a year and a half ago, I used your typical clay clumping litter. It handled smell well, but I was going though SO much litter and was spending SO much money - not to mention the dust, tracking, and toxins in clay clumping litter. After a month, I knew I had to move on to something else! My next try was Yesterday's News, which I used for the majority of the time I've spent owning my cats. I was overall happy with this litter - much less expensive, didn't track at all, no dust (and it's made from recycled newspaper so it's natural), but the odor control was not great ( I still think everyone should try this litter, because I think it may work better for other people). Over time I realized I needed to change up my litter system, again. Next, I went to pine pellets I got from Tractor Supply Company and the Tidy Cat Breeze litter system (sifting). By far, the cheapest litter ever ($6 for 40 pounds - a bag lasted me 3 months with 2 cats). Pretty good control over tracking and non-toxic (yay!). Was pretty happy with this, but again, not great odor control - cleaning this twice a day my eyes would burn because of the ammonia. I was surprised by this because most people say it is great with odor control - not for me! I began to wonder if something was wrong with my cats' health because the smell was so bad. My partner is also allergic to pine, so hard to stick with this option. After the bag ran out, I again decided I needed to change my litter. Now, to the present. I decided to give this litter a try. I hesitated originally because of the price point (after spending $6 for a 3-month period, this is a big difference), but decided that if this helped with odor control, it would be worth it. Opening the bag, I immediately was happy with the smell, and after the cats first trip to the littler box, and consecutive trips after, I was pleasantly surprised - NO SMELL. And when I went to scoop at the end of the day - NO SMELL, NO BURINING EYES. FINALLY! My best description of this litter when scooping is that it's a little bit like damp sand at the beach - very easy to scoop, not a huge chore, and seems to have good absorption. This litter does track a little (it is clumping), but not to the point where I'm finding it throughout my house and in my bed like clay clumping litter. Anyway, I would much rather do a little extra vacuuming every time I clean the littler box then have my eyes burning. Also, not a lot of litter goes to waste every time I scoop like other clumping litters. I am hoping the bag lasts me a while so I'm not spending a fortune on litter, and will update once I get to that point! So far, I definitely recommend this litter!!
Review: Very pleased. Cat accepted. -Maine Coon -I scoop daily -Cat goes #1 and #2 once a day, sometimes #1 twice -Smaller size box (16"L x 12"W x 4"H). Litter is 1" deep. Used bigger boxes in the past, but she' fine with small. -box is in a large, well ventilated litter box cabinet near an air filter. -tracking, I keep chinelle mat (looks like sea anenome) in front of the cabinet exit to catch and trim the paw hair. -no litter additives for fragrance/odor Clumps form solid, stay together, easy to scoop. Even when still a little wet, the clump stays intact or a piece might break off. Minimal of any flaking off small pieces of clump. I haven't had lingering odor issues. The tiny bits of clumps flaking off was my issue with grass seed litter. Thought I'd try and alternative to grass seed litter (SmartCat). Grass seed litter was clumping well, but maybe 1% would fall off. That 1% accumulates creating lingering odor and I'd have to dump the whole box every month. I tried using box additives, Sprinkle & Sweep worked best but is $$. Arm & Hammer made things worse. I'm not having dust issues. I keep clean litter in a 5 gallon bucket. When I need to add more to the box, I scoop some out with an up-cycled plastic container for nuts. My cat digs in the box, but no dust. Some prices of course get out, but using less litter helps. Tracking has been way down, almost to nothing. Grass seed tracked and would fill up the mat. I do all the basic stuff to limit tracking, but grass seed would still get out. This barely tracks and not as much is getting left in the mat either. My cat doesn't cover #2, but has sometimes covered with this litter. Not sure why, but at least it spares me the usual smell of doom ☠️ Overall, pretty good. Probably will switch over. Cost is good and I like the quality. **Edit: 6 Month Update: I just repurchased this litter — and yes, I was practically doing cartwheels in my apartment (🤸) because I don’t have tracked litter everywhere anymore. I’m glad I ordered a few weeks early — cat products sometimes go on backorder, and I don’t want to go without this. Here's my comments on performance: Odor Control: Since switching from grass seed to walnut litter, I haven’t had to dump or bleach the litter box at all. No lingering urine smell — it just works. Tracking: Hardly any tracking. Most of the mess has been my own fault (like forgetting to seal the bag properly). I’ve only seen tiny clumps (~1/8") outside the box maybe three times, and that was when my cat needed a paw pad trim. Between flat cleanings, I might spot 2–3 individual grains max if I'm really looking for them. Litter Mat: I use one of those “sea anemone” style mats, and it catches nearly everything. Less walnut litter is trapped by the mat and a few grains evading the mat that other litter types, which means this little product somehow stays in the box and not on the cat. I now go longer between mat shake-outs, I do it monthly, but could go longer. Dust: The only time I see noticeable dust is when pouring the whole bag into the storage bin. Otherwise, it’s minimal — nothing like the red or brown dust I used to get with other natural litters. I wiped down the area with cleaner recently and only found normal household dust. Bottom line: This litter has been a game changer — low tracking, low odor, and low maintenance. Highly recommend sticking with it if it’s working for you. Also, love that this comes from US grown walnuts 🇺🇲 🚜🌳. Whoever figured out how to create this product, thank you!!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: So many fabulous reviews and then the same amount of negative reviews.(Skip the 3 stars) Which is it ???**
A: Agreed, walnut can be stainy, though I've always been able to scrub it off of tubs / floors. I have experienced little to no dust, but I take Jeremy S's point that perhaps some bags are dustier than others. I think the clumping is adequate, the odor control (WITHOUT perfume, thank heavens) is great, and tracking has been less than any of the clay, corn, or pine litters I've tried. Our cats are toilet trained, so we use almost no litter. I have a 34# bag (old SKU) that is almost empty and is probably 4 years old. We also have a 26# bag (this SKU) which is getting low, and which I bought and opened only because I stumbled on some new kittens which we are training now. I say all that to lead into my statement that this litter IS flushable. If you want to read an expanded version of my thoughts about this litter and toilet training, you can catch it in my review of this litter. Here, I just wanted to briefly address a few of the other comments.

**Q: This litter was suggested today by a pet store clerk. I'm using "The worlds best litter" now. Has anybody used that and how does it compare to this?**
A: I just switched from World's Best to this litter. I like World' Best a lot, but I'm switching my cats to non-grain food and decided to do the same with their litter. World's Best is made of corn. The walnut is a little grittier and I can tell that while scooping, but it's no big deal. It clumps about the same. The cats seem to like this better. I haven't used it for long, but there's been no odor even when the cats don't bury their poop. It also seems to track less. I haven't used it long enough to see a problem with staining. Since my floors are dark laminate, it would hardly show anyway.

**Q: Can this be used with the breeze litter box?**
A: I use it with the Breeze litter box. When changing the urine pad (I do it every 5-7 days), I do notice a lot of pellet 'residue' on the urine pad (they break up a lot easier when wet, as stated by a previous answer). Not that that really matters, as you'll throw those out when you replace the pad, anyway. My main problem is with their brown color, vs. the white/tan color of the Tidy Cat pellets, though some may consider that a positive. I prefer to add pellets as needed and only do a complete refill (& sanitize the box) every month, so I like to be able to 'spot' all the dirty pellets & remove them. That being said, I haven't noticed an odor problem or anything that would indicate these are less 'effective' than the Tidy Cat pellets. The price of these pellets as I write this answer is $5.89 for 14 lbs for Blue Buffalo, vs. $28 for 14 lbs (4 bags of 7 lbs @ $45.99) for the cheapest Tidy Cat pellets. It's an easy buy for me.

**Q: What's the difference between the red bag and green bag?**
A: I have 7 cats and use the red bag, I can tell you that when they do their business I can’t tell because it doesn’t smell at all!!! And I am so happy for it, I’ve been looking for one that does what the red bag does

I’ve tried every other type of litter imaginable, and I always come back to this type and this brand. The best for urine odor of any type of litter. Poop smell can be a little stronger than other types, but at least it’s removed easily. Clumps very well and is much better for a cats’s digestive system because they do actually ingest litter by licking and cleaning themselves. As with most litters any station must be covered! It is still a little dusty, but then again they all are no matter what they say. Other litters are getting on surfaces in your home that are close by they just don’t show! Works great and I will always buy this brand.
