While the powder has cleaning properties to it, I believe it's meant to be mixed with water or infused to get the real benefits of the product. I would think that it's too gritty to just stay in your hair. If you are looking for a "dry" hair shampoo natural alternative to those on the market, try witch hazel and an essential oil like lavender and put it in a spray bottle. There are several recipes on the internet for natural dry shampoo. I've even heard of people using baking soda too. But in that case I guess you could try this powder too. I guess I've never been a fan of powder type of products for dry shampoo. I always used aresol products the few times I have used dry shampoo. If you go to Aveda they have a product that you spray directly on your scalp to get rid of the excess oil that I personally own that does a good job. It's witch hazel based. It's not sold as a "dry shampoo". It's more so targeted to people with scalp problems. I think it might be called scalp remedy or something like that. It's in a small brown bottle. Maybe stop by a store and test it out. It's expensive and I believe you could make your own. Don't remember all the ingredients but you could look it up. If you want your hair to turn dark, you will need to use amla and henna regularly. They say this and be used in replacement of a shampoo. So far I've used this twice and it definitely does clean your hair, however I would say it's more like a clarifying shampoo and a regular shampoo so I wouldn't recommend using it often if you do have a hair type that does need cleaning every couple of days. I have like 3C-4A hair texture so my hair type does not need to be washed every couple of days so I could see myself using this as I clarifying shampoo for when I do take down my protective styles. I really like it and I did fix it with hibiscus powder as well I really liked it did a really great job. It DOES take longer to clean out of your hair though! At least for the curly girls. I would recommend for sure.
