As its name implies, the combo jack combines audio (inputs/outputs) into one jack instead of a separate plug/jack for the headphones and a separate plug/jack for the boom mic. While a combo jack is a nice space-saving feature, I was not ready to get rid of my favorite communications headset though I did shop around for a replacement just to check prices. I was surprised to see that prices for new headsets comparable to my "old" ones ranged from $90-$120 and were much larger than my current set. Most of the higher quality headsets I located were for gaming purposes rather than communications (as was my need).As with a lot of gear, size does matter as I use the headset with Amateur Radio (Ham) communications software on my PCs and often take the headset with me when I travel. The large size design of the newer, gaming headsets would just take up too much space in my carry-on bag and/or my suitcase when traveling by air. So the Rockit Headphone/Microphone Splitter seemed to be just the ticket to let me connect my old headset to the new computer.I ordered and received it in a couple of days. It worked perfectly. It's size is perfect for using with the location of the combo plug on my new laptop. The actual plug part of it only extends a little beyond the device so it does not interfere with using my laptop in anyway. The plastic "block" that holds the jacks/plug together are a convenient size to get a grip on it when inserting or removing it from the laptop. So all-in-all this is a great little device that works and helped me avoid buying a new, expensive, larger headset that would not likely have worked as well as what I already had. Used with Motorola Moto G4 and Samsung Galaxy S5 *by M***T on Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2016* It's a little bit noisy, but it's the only product I could find that does what I need it to do- and that is to connect my Moto G4 Moto G (4th Generation) - Black - 32 GB - Unlocked - Prime Exclusive - with Lockscreen Offers & Ads]to a mix-minus on a mixing board to record phone/skype conversations live for a podcast.I run the headphone port directly to my computer audio interface, with the mic signal from the mixing board routed through the AUX output into the mic port on the Rockit Adapter. I listen on headphones connected to the Audio interface[[ASIN:B00QHURLHM BEHRINGER U-PHORIA UMC404HD for live monitoring.I can record my voice plus two in-house guests and one person live via phone/skype/hangouts/etc all on different tracks with this setup.You need to make sure you have the right connections to both ports, and you need to have both the headphones and mic plugged into the adapter before plugging it into your phone. Otherwise, it works as intended.
