The indentations for setting the pad upright are deep and work securely. There are times when the cover is closed and the iPad does not go to sleep, thus the 4 star rating. This is probably due to those deeper indentations. The covers are constructed well, and have held up to vigorous use by our kids the past 3 months. The colors are vibrant and clean up easily.
