Review: It fits pretty good in my vw gti mk4 - Widely recomended, it fits pretty good into my console and my aftermarket stereo. Review: Fear not MKIV VW owners... - Crutchfeild told me there is absolutely no way to get a double din head unit in my Jetta. After looking around at some VW forumes, I was led to this install kit. The part is sturdy, and it blends in with the stock dash. I did have to modify the installation slightly. Not any fault of the product however. The cradle behind the stock stereo had been cut (by me) to acommodate a single din unit, so i had to modify the stock radio cage a little more to mount the double din unit solidly. The only problem I found was the slide out cup holder doesn't open as easy due to the cover contacting the DD dash kit. A few minutes with a fine file fixed that. And it wouldnt be an issue if you have a 2003.5 and up since the cupholders were moved to the center console. Turns out it did fit and I didn’t had to cut material off with my dremel because i tried to fit the radio from the outside instead of the inside of the frame. There was a small frame on the radio installed that prevented me from doing so. I later on discovered this, but hey at least learned something for the future. Fits nicely, flush finish with dashboard.
