The beam is adjustable by sliding the scope in and out for a pin point beam or it will widen out the beam to light up a room or an entire area if front of you. I really enjoy the on/off feature with just the way of your hand! JUST SO YOU KNOW: If you are close to any object and you have it set to shut off with the wave of your hand it will think it's your and will shut off.
