This anti-splatter pad (basically a really big scotchbrite pad) will prevent splatter. Hot oil, or thin ATF can and will splatter if falling more than a few inches, especially if it hits the big smooth surfaces in the corners.

A: Short answer, no. It is designed to fit the funnel of an oil drain service cart. Actual opening is 6".

I recently purchased the Lisle 17892 Transmission Drain Pan for a transmission fluid change, and I’m very impressed with its performance. This pan is exactly what I needed for the job—it's large enough to hold a significant amount of fluid and has a built-in spout for easy pouring, which made the entire fluid change process much cleaner and more efficient.
