Review: Needed for an R12 to R134a System Flush - Why did you pick this product vs others?: I own a 1993 Ford F-150 and had an AC issue that led me to converting system from R12 to R134a. I certainly wanted R12 mostly to make things easier, it cools far better and the OEM components were made to accommodate R12 and not R134a, so it's not as efficient. The issue I had was that the desiccant in the accumulator/dryer broke apart and clogged the orifice tube. I was sure that some of it found its way to other components throughout the system. I rented a compressor from one of the big box home stores, purchased several courts of AC flush, and finally, this unit to connect to the compressor so that the flush is forced out under high pressure. I replaced the compressor just to be safe so I don't have to clean it, so I focused my energy on the lines, condenser and evaporator. It's a messy job no matter how hard you try to make it not so. You're refilling bottles, changing from bottle to air nozzle, it's just a mess. Luckily, the cleaner is essentially just that, a cleaner with a citrus smell so it's easy enough to rinse off if you want, or just let it evaporate. The Four Uncles tool isn’t absolute necessity if you intend to flush components, but it no doubt improves the results. I flushed the evaporator so many times and re-used some of the flush after it's settled. I was much more concerned about the desiccant versus oils or anything like that. I may have to break the system open again and replace the orifice to again, as it should trap any remaining desiccant within this system. For now, it's working as well as can be expected. Pressures are where they need to be, but it definitely does not cool as well as the R12 well did. If I notice any fall off or other issues that will expedite breaking the system open again. Depending on what I find, I may use this tool again to perform another flush.

**Q: What is the working psi? can the can hold 200psi without leaks or damage?**
A: I don't think 200PSI will do you much good if trying to flush an AC system. At that pressure, you'll push all the contents out in a second or two, which is not the point. You need to slow it down, give the solution a little time to scrub affected areas. I generally cut the pressure to around 40 psi and watch what comes out into a scrupulously clean catch bucket. If ANYTHING shows up, clean out the bucket and refill the canister for another run. Even so, it usually takes 1-3 fills of the canister until you can get a batch that's PERFECTLY clean. Even at that pressure, it will go through a lot of solvent in a very short time as it discharges only a steady stream. In order to extend the time and cleaning effectiveness of a batch, I drilled the tiniest possible hole into the discharge cavity of the top cap. Being above liquid line, it now mixes incoming air with the discharge making a spray instead of a stream. This increases the turbulence of the solvent discharged and improves cleaning action. Much more effective, wastes a lot less solvent. At 200 PSI everything would be blown out of the capture bucket, you'd never know it it was clean or not. Once you get a clean batch, crank up the pressure to about 60-80PSI and let it blow for about a half hour (takes a pretty good compressor to free blow a line at that pressure for that long) to evaporate any traces of solvent that might remain, for these chemicals do not play nice with your compressor. But to answer your question, there is a pressure relief disk that will rupture at high pressure. Warnings on box say do not exceed 150 PSI.

**Q: What type of cleaner do you use to flush the AC system? Thank you**
A: I used "Super Cool Air Conditioning Fast Flush ". Worked fine for me, in my 1979 Toyota (R12 system).
Note: Some complaints about the rubber nozzle. When I first used it, cleaner was spraying all over the place. To solve that problem, I purchased a "Compressor set up kit" from the home center big box store. It came with a smaller nozzle which worked great, and several other items (like a tire pressure gauge, basket ball inflator fitting, etc.).

**Q: Is a pancake style compressor such as the Porter Cable able to be used for this?**
A: This is an air charged refillable pressure bottle. Any air compressor that can charge the bottle to recommended pressure will work.

**Q: How do i use this to flush my home ac water drain pipes? I received this item but it seems i need something else. Do i need an actual air compressor?**
A: Only use dry nitrogen to clear your refrigerant lines. If you use an air compressor you will add water vapor to the lines which all have to be removed with a vacuum pump. Dont buy this unless you know what its used for

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The manufacturer has made corrections.

Please read my review to the end where I made an important statement concerning the corrections of imperfections that my unit had. This unit is well built but the one that I received had a very faulty high pressure safety valve. The hole in the brass casting was drilled undersized which did not allow the round nose of the piece that the o-ring seal is mounted on to seat against the casting. Air rushed out of the safety valve regardless of the pressure that was applied to the tank. By drilling out the hole in the brass casting a little larger, using numbered drills, the seal ring was able to make correct contact and make a good seal. After the correction, adjusting the correct opening pressure was a simple task. The other imperfection was that the enclosed quick connect US adaptor had a mounting thread that was too small in diameter which required the use of heavy duty industrial gas line teflon tape in order to get it to seal. I still had to replace the adaptor because it would not create a seal with my female connectors on the ends of my air lines. With the exception of these correctable problems, the unit is of good quality and worked great. UPDATE: On 3-30-2023, I have been assured by the manufacturer of this product that they have corrected the issues that I found to be a problem. In light of this, I am changing my rating to 5 stars because the product is very a well engineered item and should work well now that the issues have been corrected.
