The sticks are maybe 2 or 2.5 feet long, all connecting together. This means that the set-up backdrop would definitely accommodate a photoshoot of a family of 5+. As it says, the paper/backdrop sheet is not included but I'd suggest finding some paper or towel yourself. In the photo, I set it up quickly, only having two of the poles together to show half the length because it was too long to set up in that particular room. I will tell you it works exactly as it should, the tripods work together with the screws they have in them so the heights are adjusted and at the tips of them there is an additional screw that will hold the bar between them. The clamps are included as described. The best thing you should make note of is that it is CONVENIENT, everything fits in the bag that is included and I really like that inside of the carry bag there is a smaller pouch for the poles to stay together. It's easy to carry around, worth your money.
