I don't want to ruin my retainer if I don't like the tooth for some reason.** A: if your using a retainer with wax yes you can. if your retainer was given to you with a tooth inside of it from your orthodontist then it just depends on how it was made. i have two retainers given to me by my orthodontist and i am only able to change out the tooth in one of them. **Q: How long are these meant to last? How often should it be changed?** A: I’m using them in aligner trays that I change weekly. I usually put a new one in with each new aligner change, though the orthodontist says I could transfer them from one aligner to the next until they look worn. I had some difficulty removing them to transfer, so I just started going with a new one with each new tray. Theoretically, they could last for a good while if you’re careful on transfers of if you’re using them in a retainer. It’s a good product and serves its purpose well. **Q: "Yes what i mean is do i have to put them into hot water to mould them onto my teeth"** A: No. You insert into the clear “retainer” to fill the gap caused by missing teeth.
