I went with this mount for my RV because any of the lockable mounts are way heavier so its adding to the overall weight. Given this one has no arm to reach out, its better for an RV as long as you are mounting it where there is a backing plate made for TV mounts in your RV. **Q: Will this mount work with a hp 240va monitor 23.8”?** A: I cannot answer about the HP 240VA monitor specifically, however, I used it to mount a 27" t.v. on a wall with no issues at all. **Q: Can I mount a 1/2 or 3/4 strip of ply wood to ywo studs to center this in the middle of the wall ?** A: You can do that.
