It does seem to work fine for what I need to do in my workshed, such as small electronic repairs, and broken connections. The temp range is alright, although it takes getting used to dialing it in, it likes to be either hot, or hotter, with no middle ground. The desoldering tape seems to work fine, but having never used the desoldering tube/gun I don't exactly understand how to use it. The tips that are included are of a good selection, but here again I find that I don't know what some of the different shapes are used for. All-in-all the soldering kit is a great value for small around the house repairs, or for someone doing light hobby work. I haven't used it enough to see how it will do in the long run, so I may have a different comment later. I gave it 4 stars for now because it does exactly what I bought it for, light work, and for the cost value of the items included. My only gripe is that it comes with no instruction manual for the various tools included. While not exactly a beginner, I'm also not an expert on soldering, so I would recommend a different soldering set that would explain the different items involved.
