## Description

Ring Alarm Glass Break Sensor : desertcart.co.uk: desertcart Devices & Accessories

Review: Great Product from the Ring family - The Ring Alarm Glass Break Sensor is a fantastic addition to my home security system. It was easy to install and integrates seamlessly with my Ring setup. The sensor is highly responsive and provides peace of mind by alerting me instantly to potential break-ins. The range and sensitivity are impressive, detecting glass breaks from a good distance. Highly recommended for added security!
Review: A good addition to the Ring Alarm for Conservatories and SunRooms - Any room that has an expanse of glass will benefit from this sensor. Just please realise that it cannot be tested using YouTube videos of breaking glass! Until you witness a double-glazed unit failing, you will have no idea of the sound it makes. I have been unlucky enough to witness a £650 pane failing and I was scratching my head for a long time trying to work out what it was. It sounded nothing like you would expect and nothing like the sound of a breaking bottle or pane of single glass being hit with a hammer. Ideally this is the last line of defence, so ensure you cannot do more in the way of physical security first, security lighting second, Magnetic Door and Window Sensors third and this little beauty last for the full "belt and braces" effect. Added just like all other sensors to the Ring Alarm System, there is no setting up required. It is basically just a microphone carefully tuned to the frequency of failing double-glazed units. It affixes to most surfaces the same as PIR and Mag Sensors with double-sided tape (supplied) although screws can be used. I fitted mine into a high humidity Conservatory on a wood plinth with the tape supplied and it's still there a year later. Batteries are two very simple AA Alkalines and are easy to replace, though in a year, they're showing up as still good. You can set it to be active while at home, but you do risk the microphone picking up similar frequencies and sounding the alarm. Much better just to have it arm in Home (night) and Away modes only and not in Disarmed Mode. Now all we need is for Ring to sell their Fire and Co2 Listener and Water Sensors in the UK and we'll have a system that echos what the Americans have and not a poor neighbour's version we have now.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: while used in away mode - will it pick up noise from outside house? because it can be very annoying triggering false alarm for anything outside house.**
A: I have five of these sensors (one actually covers the garage window) and not had a single false alarm.
I have these active in both the 'Away' and 'Home' (at night) modes and despite traffic etc I have had no problems with them.
People have said they have had them go off with 'running water' but the tap in the kitchen is 7" away from the sensor and I haven't had that problem on the odd occasion I have got up during the night for a glass of water, using our very noisy kitchen tap.

It is a matter of Ring making then sensitive enough not to be useless (I did break a pane if glass in a bucket in the kitchen to test it, and YES ,it did work fine !) bur sensitive enough to actually work.
Having said that you have to use commons sense as well, like don't run the washing machine or 'chink' glasses together while it is armed then say it is useless because it went off, and in real life would a burglar put on your washing machine for you and make a toast to the burglary's success by chinking classes ? I think not !

They work fine and cover all the windows in an average sized room, what's not to like about them, they really make my alarm do everything I want now, I highly recommend them.

**Q: I have a few windows downstairs and a few upstairs. Do I need to buy only one sensor for downstairs and one for upstaris?**
A: Probably need one for upstairs and downstairs

**Q: Is this device usable in the uk. evidently, despite having the ring app installed, this device cannot be detected using it.**
A: I have the ring break glass sensor installed and operational in my UK home. It shows up under the alarm sensors just like any of the other sensors like door and windows. I also know it works as I dropped a drinking glass in the kitchen when the alarm was armed and it activated the alarm.

**Q: Is this device compatible with the Matter standard? (This will allow it to work with devices from other manufacturers.)**
A: I highly doubt it will work with another brand as the device connects with the Ring Alarm Hub. The device would be used less without the Hub.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Do not test with YouTubr. Test with a real glass break.
*by M***K on 29 March 2023*

Installed with no issues. I then tested with YouTube videos and it did not detect anything. I wrote a hasty review and I initiated a return. Then I read that you have to break real glass. Did that and all was good again.
