As per the size chart, I ordered the XL As an older guy, I'm breaking all the unwritten social rules about us older, chunkier guys wearing revealing speedo type swimwear. It does take confidence knowing you are going to attract eyeballs. At my age, I don't care. I enjoy wearing this type of suit as opposed to longer, bulkier board shorts as it provides the best experience for me, both in and out of the water. It is so comfortable, you don't even feel like you are wearing a suit! Do I wish I had the body of the model in the photo? Sure. Do I wish I was taller, thinner, more hair on top and had a bigger unit? haha! Um,...yeah, but that's not going to happen. I can't control what other people think. What I can control is wearing what feels good, allows me to swim laps the easiest way possible and is super easy to care for. I swim at the local Y 3-4 times per week and I have noticed that I can swim longer, with less effort with this suit. That alone is a powerful incentive. At my age, I MUST exercise regularly, so getting the gear right helps so much. This suit has a nice liner in front, for modesty, but doesn't have a string to tighten the waist. They do slip down a bit when you first dive in, but not when pushing off the wall in flip-turns. The waist band is strong, but not death-grip tight. It is dense elastic which seems just right for the design. The material for the suit itself is stretchy, soft and not see-through. For me, the pouch is just right. I can comfortably point down, up or to the side. It covers the butt perfectly, leaving my crack covered, but just barely. This item is very well made and looks great! I really like these suits now and have bought 3 others. The maker has a fantastic line of mens suit designs in a fantastic variety of colors and patterns. I think these are fairly priced. I was paying $38 for my Speedo Endurance suits and these are about half that. Wife thought these looked super sexy, son was a little weired out but anyway. On 2 of our excursion wore these to the beach and it was so liberating and comfortable. I mean really it was nice, I'm 5'9" 185#, athletic build and have a pretty good body, the large fit perfect. I also tried size medium and while the fit was Ok, the large was more comfortable. They appear to be of high quality with good stitching, definitely not see through. Unfortunately , not sure I am daring enough to wear to the local pool, not sure why as they look great on me but the social norm in America is not there yet. I've purchased twice from them before, and the same as before, the product is worth every penny. The copper coloring is perfectly done with a lustrous finish, and the fit is snug and does not ride at all; the front pouch is lined, providing a comfortable feel.
