I have been using microfiber mats for that forever but after a few washings, they'd always start getting really beat up looking and it seemed wasteful to have to keep replacing them every year or so. Hopefully this mat will be a more long lasting option. I have had good luck with other silicone items in the kitchen being quite durable/long lasting, not to mention easy to clean and keep sanitary. The mat is pretty much exactly what I expected it to be. It's quite thick and feels like it should be durable. It also doesn't slide on the counter! My only concern is it does appear to be silicone with added fillers (if you bend it, you see white creases which is indicative of fillers in silicone products). As I'm not going to be using this in contact with any kind of food, I'm not really concerned about it likely having fillers health-wise, but I do wonder if that will affect longevity or durability over time.The reason I knocked off a star- I ordered this from "Amazon Warehouse Deals" and I received the mat in good condition but it was missing the blue scrubbie :(. Not sure if that's why it was a "warehouse deal" or if the scrubbie was just forgotten.
