TRUE DEVOTION TO MARY: WITH PREPARATION FOR TOTAL CONSECRATION SAINT LOUIS DE MONTFORT The Original and Best 1863 Translation from the French by Father Frederick William Faber Two Books in One, True Devotion to Mary and 33-Day Preparation for Total Consecration A Classic Masterpiece of Marian Theology Includes Prefaces, an Introduction, a Biography of Saint Louis de Montfort and True Devotion Information Over 68,000 words including illustrations by Bartolome Esteban Murillo Publisher: A Hardback Edition is available: ISBN-13: 978-1-78379-004-3 Publisher: Available in Kindle E-Book: ISBN-13: 978-1-78379-001-2 A Treatise on the True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin or True Devotion to Mary is considered the greatest book on the Blessed Virgin Mary ever written and has been recommended and practiced by eight Popes. This is the original 'scrupulously faithful' translation by Father Frederick William Faber. The great Marian Pope, Blessed Pope John Paul II practised this Devotion to Mary, in his Letter to the Montfort Fathers he says: "A work destined to become a classic of Marian spirituality was published 160 years ago. St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort wrote the Treatise on True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin at the beginning of the 1700s, but the manuscript remained practically unknown for more than a century. When, almost by chance, it was at last discovered in 1842 and published in 1843, the work was an instant success, proving extraordinarily effective in spreading the "true devotion" to the Most Holy Virgin." "My motto; 'Totus Tuus' is inspired by the teaching of St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort. These two words express total belonging to Jesus through Mary: 'Tuus totus ego sum, et omnia mea tua sunt', St Louis Marie wrote, and he translates his words: 'I am all yours, and all that I have is yours, O most loving Jesus, through Mary, your most holy Mother' (Treatise on True Devotion, n. 233). This Saint's teaching has had a profound influence on the Marian devotion of many of the faithful and on my own life. It is a lived teaching of outstanding ascetic and mystical depth, expressed in a lively and passionate style that makes frequent use of images and symbols." "All our perfection", St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort writes, "consists in being conformed, united and consecrated to Jesus Christ; and therefore, the most perfect of all devotions is, without any doubt, that which most perfectly conforms, unites and consecrates us to Jesus Christ. Now, Mary being the most conformed of all creatures to Jesus Christ, it follows that, of all devotions, that which most consecrates and conforms the soul to Our Lord is devotion to his holy Mother, and that the more a soul is consecrated to Mary, the more it is consecrated to Jesus (Treatise on True Devotion, n. 120)." "When we praise her, love her, honour her or give anything to her, it is God who is praised, God who is loved, God who is glorified, and it is to God that we give, through Mary and in Mary (Treatise on True Devotion, n. 225)." Saint Louis-Marie Grignon De Montfort was a Catholic Priest and Missionary in Brittany and Vendee, France. He was born in Montfort-sur-Meu in 1673 and died in 1716. He was canonized by Pius XII in 1947. His feast day is on April 28th. He is considered one of the early proponents of the field of Mariology as it is known today, and a candidate to become a Doctor of the Church. This EDC Edition includes additional religious illustrations. PUBLISHER: CATHOLIC WAY PUBLISHING

Review: a masterpiece and a beautiful edition - I bought the hardcover edition published by Catholic Way publishing. I had older TAN paperbacks which fell apart. It's worth it to go ahead and pay more for the hardcover. It is a beautiful, shiny book that seems like it will hold up well. I like that the Faber translation is used. I like the illustrations and the prefaces. I like that it includes the prayers to become totally consecrated to Jesus through Mary, which is a more than wonderful thing. I don't like that these books--and the TAN edition is the same way--add requirements for total consecration which go beyond what St. Louis wrote. So if there are too many readings and prayers, go back into St. Louis's own words in the book (True Devotion to Mary) itself and know that you need only follow these to the best of your ability. For example, during the first 12 days, St. Louis gives no requirements beyond praying to cast off the spirit of the world. He gives no specific readings requirements or prayers. Yet people have added certain readings and prayers, which is fine, as long as people know they are not required. But still, these readings and prayers are wonderful if people are able to do them, and this book and this devotion is wonderful beyond words for those who really want to do God's will in Jesus, through Mary.
Review: Gold standard for consecration to Our Lady. - This is the definitive work on Marian Consecration! St. Louis de Montfort covers every aspect of TRUE Marian Devotion. Marian Devotion is widely misunderstood by Protestants as well as most Catholics. This IS NOT worship or adoration of Mary, nor does it take away from the rightful worship or personal relationship with Jesus. If lived sincerely it only brings us closer to Jesus. St. Louis, using scripture and orthodox theology explains and teaches the difference between true/legitimate devotion to Mary and warped superstitious or self serving pseudo devotion to Mary. True devotion and consecration to Mary can only bring us closer to Jesus whereas pseudo devotion will do nothing but feed our misguided idea of religion. It is made very clear in this book that placing ourselves under the queenship of Mary, as Jesus was as a child and as He placed John at the Cross, will serve Him and bring a soul closer to Him much faster and better than we can reach on our own. This is by no means the only way to get closer to The Lord, but it is clearly a most beautiful and effective way. This is a classic work by a saint who is most highly regarded by the Catholic Church including Pope John Paul II, St. Maximilian Kolbe and many other canonized saints who made and lived this Consecration to Mary. It is well worth the read and the effort!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Read it, as the popes recommend you do.

good old fashioned, unapologetic devotion. Smasher of anti-Marian heresy and kindles a love for Jesus and His mother. Do, however, pair with a more thorough 33-day prep, like Fr. Gaitley's if you're doing that. The one that is included at the end is supplementary, not original to de Montfort (he didn't write one out), and the 33-day prep is too important to leave un-explicated.
