It seemed like it worked wonderfully, until I tried to make 3 cups of chai. The recipe called for 1 1/2 TBS per cup , so I put in 4 good table spoons. The weight of the herbs when wet, caused the mechanism to slip when it went back up the rod. That means that the screen can lower into the herbs, but it couldn't raise itself out of them. I'm not sure what to do about that, and may end up returning this. I will have to decide if I just have to make less tea at a time, and see if that is a problem with other herbal mixtures. It heats up water fast, the controls are intuitive and easy to use, and I was enjoying it. Edited: A Year later. I LOVE this teapot. I use 3 TBS of Chai mix, and am able to run it through two cycles, making four cups of chai at a time. It works well. This teapot has allowed me to perfectly brew tea at the proscribed temperature and time in the instructions, allowing me to taste the bouquets at the optimum flavor- and without a mess! This tea pot has opened up a whole new world of flavors for me.
