## Description

Dyeing fabric in a washing machine has never been easier. iDye comes in a 14 g. packet that dissolves in water which means there is no handling of messy dye powders. Just throw the dye packet in, add salt or vinegar and run through the wash cycle. It is the ultimate easy way to get gorgeous color

Review: Good dye, could be a bit darker - This is incredible! Nearly fully restored my 100% polyester patio furniture. I say nearly because it could be a little darker, which is more obvious when you look underneath (but the important part is the surface so no big deal). I followed the instructions very carefully as others have suggested - pre-wet material, stir constantly for 30 mins to 1 hour - supposedly the longer you go the deeper the color, so I went to 55 minutes before my arms were completely exhausted as I needed it to get really dark. I bought a cheap 12qt stainless steel pot. You do need to be careful of the splash zone since you need it at a rolling boil the whole time, I’ve got a white tiling on my backsplash and didn’t think about it and it was too late to protect - the first splash left a few spots in the grout (the actual glossy tile was easy to wipe off), so be careful.
Review: Actual BLACK 🖤 - Let me start by saying I've dabbled in dying, but am not a serious dyer of things. I've dyed some doilies and such to hide staining (and to go with a macabre theme) using Rit Dyemore for synthetics. I got lovely dark grey's, but not BLACK. Now to this. I bought some cheap plastic net mesh material at Joann's on sale to use for a project, but it was ELECTRIC BLUE. I decided at the price it was, I'd dye it. Knowing I could never expect to achieve my desired end color with the Rit, I hit desertcart and started reading reviews. I settled on this, bought it, and eagerly awaited it's arrival. I'll tell you it worked with a dream now so you can stop reading if you just want to make sure it works. IT WORKS! Ok. Still with me? Holy CRAP did it work! I use a stainless steel stock pot and tongs when I dye things on the stove. I have always poured the dye water down my pink porcelain sink. I've needed to use a little elbow grease to get everything clean before, but not excessively difficult. THIS though? The electric blue had metallic glitter flecks. It is now a GORGEOUS metallic black shimmery wonder. Achievement unlocked. The stainless steel pot was cleaned with bleach this time. The sink was filled with a bleach solution and allowed to soak as it was a lovely shade of grey (an improvement in my mind, but we rent). There are a few spots on the pink countertop near the stove, but that's the next remodel task and it's starting to peel up in other areas. I was EXTREMELY CAREFUL! A single drop of this will stain even METAL almost immediately! It also smelled horrible. The fabric has been washed twice and still stinks. Luckily it's going to become a display rack for hair combs, so I don't really care that it's pungent. I will absolutely use this again, but OUTSIDE! We have a black folding table and we will be using that and our camp stove in future and that stock pot is now dedicated to this smelly messy wonderful process! Water to be poured on the blacktop! It says it can dye 3D printed objects and I completely believe it!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: This listing say iDye Poly in the main listing, but says it is only for cotton? Please explain or revise your listing?**
A: this is for synthetic fabrics. If you have a blend of natural/synthetic fabric, it will only stain the synthetic fabrics, yielding a lighter version of the color. I used this on a pink sweatshirt that was a poly cotton blend. THe black ended up being a medium grey, which is what I set out for.

If you have a blend and you want the fabric to dye fully, you will need to use a mix of this product ant the iDye that is meant for natural fabric.

**Q: i have a red fleece poncho...will the black poly dye it correctly?**
A: I doubt it. I tried to dye a dark yellow dress black and it is olive green

**Q: Can I use this for tie dye? Meaning mix small amounts and different colors and use them from squirt bottles?**
A: Not exactly. Heat is 100% needed for this product to be set in the fabric. You can iron the fabric after the dye has dried after you squirt it on, but that is incredibly time consuming. You should steam instead. Take a look at these DIY steaming instructions. https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5ac4eb022971149bb6d709d3/t/5b3e48858a922db5a565bfc0/1530808455316/Make+Your+Own+Fabric+Steamer+Instructions.pdf

**Q: Can i use this to dye an old wedding dress?**
A: This product works specifically for synthetic fabrics. You need to check what kind of fabric your dress is in to have a great result. Types of Synthetic Fibers- Rayon, Nylon, Polyester and Acrylic.
