Seems to work well. Love that there’s no job needed. Review: Do not buy new generation Eve Aqua - Do not buy. I have had 2 of the old generation Eve Aquas for years and they have been great. These new generation ones are terribly. The included Energizer batteries and Duracell replacements only last a couple weeks. When you have to replace the batteries (way too often), you have to open the device which is extremely difficult to do. Mine broke TWICE when trying to open it. One of the sockets that the pins from the front case slide into on the back case broke off! It has connectivity but the valve won’t operate anymore. The first time, Eve reluctantly replaced it. The second time, they told me to go through desertcart. desertcart pushed back but eventually sent a return label and refunded my money. Bad design. Do not buy. ## Features - Eve Aqua requires iPhone or iPad with the latest version of iOS/iPadOS. - Control your sprinkler or irrigation system via the Eve app, Siri, or onboard button. When fitting Eve Aqua, screw it all the way on to the faucet using your fingers. Ensure it fits securely and that no water escapes even when the valve is shut. **Q: Eve Aqua is a Minimal Thread Device (MTD) – but what does that mean?** A: The current version of Eve Aqua supports Thread. This technology makes your smart home network more responsive, robust, and increases its reach – the only thing you need is a home hub (Thread border router). **Q: How can I extend the range of Eve Aqua?** A: Adding HomePod mini or the newest Apple TV to your home means Thread-enabled Eve accessories can communicate via Thread – the mesh network that reaches even the farthest corners of your abode. Simply position a FTD as close as possible to Eve Aqua. **Q: Do I need an internet connection in my garden?** A: Once set up, Eve Aqua works completely autonomously. It’s entirely up to you if you want to use the HomeKit automation and remote access functions that require a home hub. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ No Hub Required *by W***Y on July 3, 2026* Replaced a Rachio that would no longer sync after 2 years. The water pressure to the front of my Dad’s house is incredibly high, so the older version of the Aqua kept falling off (due to the plastic threads that attached to the spigot not being strong enough). This new Eve Aqua is very sturdy and now has metal threads that keep it locked tight on the spigot with no problems. We’ve tested it out for over a week now and it’s still on there tight. Besides this new Aqua looking a tad snazzier than the last version, it’s also much more responsive due to the built in Thread technology. The button on the front works immediately, and using the app/Siri has also no delay as well. We are looking forward to hooking up my Dad’s sprinkler system and setting up a watering schedule so he doesn’t have to crawl under the deck every time he needs to turn on the water. At 60 it’s getting a little more difficult for him to keep crawling under there, so this is incredibly convenient for him! (PS: we’re using the old Aqua on the back of the house with lower pressure and it’s working perfectly back there with no issues!) ## Frequently Bought Together - Eve Aqua – Smart Water Controller for Apple Home app or Siri, irrigate Automatically with schedules, Easy to use, Remote Access, no Bridge, Bluetooth/Thread, HomeKit - Gardena (38193 Two-Way Garden Hose Splitter with Flow Control Valves and Quick Connect Fittings.
