Review: Compact and reliable motion sensor - These sensors are very easy to set up using the TAPO app and can then be paired with other TAPO devices to do many different things. I use them to automatically turn on TAPO LED lights in my kitchen for night-time lighting and they have been 100% reliable so far. Sensitivity can be changed in the app, for example if you have pets that you dont want to trigger the sensor and you can set all sorts of notifications if need be. The battery included is still going after nearly a year in place and it stays connected to my wifi with no issues. I would say that these are incredible value for money, look good, work great and are easy to use especially if you are familiar with TAPO products.

**Q: If I put this inside on the ground floor looking out through a window, will it work to detect movement outside?**
A: No. PIR sensors will not work reliably through glass. Most likely not at all. The work in detecting changes in "Infra-red" heat energy.

They do however communicate to the hub over distance as they are not using wifi but 868Mhz radio communications.  I have the sensors fitted inside shipping containers and the radio transmission has no problem passing through the metal skin of the container. The sensor is there to detect the door opening.

You could fit outside in your garden but they are not waterproof so will need protection against the elements and not be in direct sunlight.  Ideal for alcoves.

**Q: Do these have a feature so if it doesn't see motion it can trigger lights to turn off?**
A: You can create a routine in the Alexa app, where if the Motion Sensor detects no motion for a certain length of time, it turns a device on/off (plug, bulb etc). I have mine set to turn my heater off if it detects no motion for 1 hour. So, if I forget to turn my heater off when I go out, it will do so after an hour of nobody being at home :-)

A: No, Kasa and Tapo are seperate apps and not compatible

**Q: Does this work with home assistant ?**
A: Yes the sensor works with the Tapo Hub and the home assistant app.

It's great to setup "Smart" automation routines.  Sensor detects something and then you add actions such as sound alarm turn on a light or record camera footage.

These sensors are very easy to set up using the TAPO app and can then be paired with other TAPO devices to do many different things. I use them to automatically turn on TAPO LED lights in my kitchen for night-time lighting and they have been 100% reliable so far. Sensitivity can be changed in the app, for example if you have pets that you dont want to trigger the sensor and you can set all sorts of notifications if need be. The battery included is still going after nearly a year in place and it stays connected to my wifi with no issues. I would say that these are incredible value for money, look good, work great and are easy to use especially if you are familiar with TAPO products.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Brilliant. Small. Functional

These are brilliant little things. We now have 2 in our house and are looking at a third They perform great, very accurate and are so small you hardly notice them. I forget they're there until the light turns on! They connect to the app and the rest of my tapo devices with ease and the in app features are so practical and easy to use and set up You can set these up with routines, so that they only activate between certain times of the day and will active your bulbs to whatever % brightness and colour you like. This is great for us, because we have one of our sensors set up to turn the light on 10% for when we get up in the middle of the night to use the loo. Nothing worsenthan being half asleep and turning a light on full brightness! I like how they come with different fitting options. They come with self adhesive pads, which are super strong and are magnetic, we have one on the side of our fridge and you can screw them in place if you feel it's needed Just a shame they're not waterproof, because I would love one in the garden to activate the lights at home in case an intruder came Great price when on offer, very happy with these
