There are two different models here. One of them has a built in Wi-fi extender which extends an existing Wi-fi network from your current router. When installed the blue led flashes and you use your phone to connect to the sockets Wi-fi network called BG. Once connected you use your phone to connect to bg.repeater.net which then guides you through to select your own router network. From there you enter your current Wi-fi network password and then confirm. You also need to make sure the tick box on this page is ticked so the socket also takes on the same network name and password as your current network. All your devices will then connect to this socket when in range and treat it as if it was your current network. The setup is very easy and takes about 2 mins minus the actual installation of the unit to the mains supply. **Q: Does this extend my existing wifi network OR will it create a second ‘new’ wifi network?** A: Old question, but this can do BOTH as I discovered when I set mine up earlier. Select the current wifi to grab the signal and then select if you wish to extend with current details or create a new one. I’d buy it again. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good USB socket so far. *by A***Y on 14 December 2019* I'm a qualified electrician so please always use a qualified electrician to replace electrical items. This was very simple to swap out with good terminals at the back. These fit easily in a 25mm back box. I have the metal back box so I can't comment on the plastic plasterboard type boxes. The socket swiches feel sturdy at the moment so we will see if they last. As for the USB sockets they are in a reasonable place as some clash with plugs when in other places. This is NOT a FAST CHARGE unit. It is higher current output but not variable voltage or 5A output required for some devices to activate the fast charge in your device. Just be aware if you routinely have your electrics tested by an electrician as you should these will cause the test to fail as they leak a very small amount of current into the earth wire. A good electrician should ask as they have to bypass the socket earthing.
