Review: Fast semi-professional compressor - I first bought a Viair compressor in 2002 or 3 (I think) Since then I used it extensively off roading in the UK, Europe and 3 or 4 trips a year round the the Sahara and further south until 2014. Since my trips to the desert were curtailed due to the Libyan civil war and general associated security risks, I have used it every couple of weeks to top up my tyres until it finally died a couple of months ago. I honestly couldn't estimate how many hundreds of hours of relentless pumping it did over the years. It worked flawlessly in the heat, sand, dust, mud, driving rain, snow and ice, and it survived living in the back of various 110 Defenders for nearly two decades. Anyway it eventually died and I replaced it with a cheap standard domestic type one from by a known brand which was basically tat. I got 2 months use out of it tending to both my wife's car and mine (which has a slow puncture due to a slightly bent rim). It was slow, insanely loud and broke after maybe 10-15 uses. I treated myself to a new Viair compressor as a replacement. It's more or less the same as the one I had before but a newer model. It's quieter, seems quicker and it's shiny! I expect it to last a similar length of time. If you are considering buying a home compressor - get a Viair. On the slightly bigger compressors I have use the SB50 Anderson connection. Whatever the connector is that is smaller than that would be fine for this compressor. They draw a maximum of approximately 20 amps. No, this would not be useful for blowing air out at pressure, you need some sort of reservoir holding a high-pressure (for example, 100 psi). This compressor (and any portable compressor) is open ended, so it is just the free flowing air that comes out. In fact non of the Viair compressors do this. There is a gauge on the top of the compressor where you can see the pressure in the tyre. It's very easy to use.
