## Description

Our Drawing Inks have been used by illustrators since their introduction by Winsor & Newton in the 1890's, where the main requirement is brilliance of colour.
They are formulated from a series of soluble dyes in a superior shellac solution. These inks can be applied with brush, dip pen or airbrush and are widely used by designers, calligraphers and artists as well as illustrators.
This set includes eight colours in 14ml bottles including: Sunshine Yellow, Vermillion, Deep Red, Purple, Ultramarine, Brilliant Green, Peat Brown, Black. Actual contents may vary.
Formulated from a series of soluble dyes in a shellac solution, our drawing inks offer unrivalled strength and colour brilliance.
The drawing inks allow overlaying of different colours for attractive colour mixes. All the colours are water resistant except Liquid Indian Ink, Gold and Silver.
All the colours are intermixable. Gold and Silver should be added to other inks in small quantities to avoid thickening. Mixtures of Gold and Silver should not be stored together due to adverse chemical reaction.

**Q: can you use this for a dip pen**
A: They are great for Dip pen, brush and other mark making techniques.

**Q: Is it waterproof when dried?**
A: I do not think so. I use water to dilute the W&N inks so I suspect they will re-solubilise in water if wetted. I have a fountain pen with ink cartridge in which the ink dried out over time, the ink forming solid crystals. I added one drop of water and hey immediately the ink solvated and I used it again !

This is a great way to enter the world of artists inks. If you've never dabbled before, then be assured that the colours offered here, and the quality of the ink will not disappoint.Firstly, the outer packaging itself, though relatively flimsy, is enough to keep everything together in transit. But the bottles themselves are great - slightly wider at the bottom, and squat enough to reduce the risk of tipping them over in use.The inks themselves are incredible. The vibrancy and consistency of the colours is mind blowing. It really will take your art to another level.They can be used with a dip pen and/or applied with water as a wash.Using the 'wash' technique opens up a whole world of possibilites. They react well to different ratios of water offering a very subtle colouration, all the way to the supremely vivid. the colours also layer very well, allowing you to build up value or blend shades.From loose, washy sketches to fine line pen and ink drawings, these won't let you down.And, finally, for those worried about the 'value for money' given what seems like a small amount of ink per bottle - don't worry about that. You'll use very small amounts of ink to achieve the desired effect. I can imagine these lasting for a very long time to come.
