## Overview

Kaogel VP Veterinary Kaolin Suspension is a vet-recommended liquid treatment designed to relieve diarrhoea in cats and dogs by protecting the intestinal lining and absorbing toxins. ## Description

Kaogel is a liquid treatment for diarrhoea of non-specific origins in cats and dogs, helping to protect the lining of the animalâ€s intestine and absorbing toxins from the intestinal contents. Dosage: 0.5 – 1 ml/kg bodyweight as a total daily dose by mouth. May be given as a divided dose 3-4 times daily 480ml Bottle

Review: Effective treatment for doggy diarrhoea - I have used this many times for our dogs, and it has often been supplied by my vet for upset stomachs (diarrhoea). Its cheaper to buy from desertcart than it is from the vet, and we now keep some in. It has a really long 'use by' date (about 3 years) and you only need 0.5 - 1.0 ml per kg of body weight as a dose (I.e. a 20kg dog needs a maximum of 20ml) so a bottle lasts a long time. I use a plastic syringe to squirt it into the dogs mouth, to ensure it gets in the right place - its a useful precaution as if splashes on clothes, furniture or whatever, it dries to a white powder and is a bit stubborn to remove, to say the least! If you're an experienced dog owner, you'll know this already so I apologise if I'm stating the obvious here, but you should only self administer this if you're confident that its just a minor stomach upset - if you're not sure, or think it may be more serious (e.g diarrhoea persists for more than a day, signs of blood in faeces, dog is lethargic etc.) then don't take any chances and go to the vets. In other words, err on the side of caution and if there's any doubt, a trip to the vet is called for. Having said that, most dog owners know their dogs well, and if you've got one like mine who picks up 'tasty snacks' of discarded food, and has a particular penchant for fresh horse poo, then you'll know that the occasional bout of the squits caused by such 'snacking' can be effectively treated by skipping that days meal and a dose of Kaogel to settle them down.
Review: Must have for first aid kit for dogs - Great stuff we have a yorkie with a easily upset tummy this works just great for easing diarrhoea saves a trip to the vet

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this product safe for kittens and cats?**
A: It does say on bottle - for treatment of diarrhoea of non-specific origin in dogs and cats.

**Q: can you put it on food as i can not get it in her mouth**
A: Yes, my dog won't take it in a syringe, but eats it on her food happily

**Q: How many days in a row is this ok to use for?**
A: I've used this on numerous occasions and have always seen an improvement in 3 days. Initially I had it prescribed by our vet (£54 a bottle) and believe we had to use it for a week. Personally if I didn't see an improvement in 3 days I would see our vet. We were told to split the doses into 3 times a day. Hope this helps!

**Q: Does it work for change over food for pups**
A: If I were you I would check with a vet if it concerns a young dog, a change of food should not cause a problem for more than a few days - if that. There may be an intolerance to the new food. Check with a vet. I use kaolin on adult dogs with dicky tummies, usually after eating something totally disgusting, have never used it on a dog less than 6 months old without consulting a vet. I hope your puppy recovers quickly and there is nothing more serious than an adverse reaction to the food. If ongoing problems, for your puppy's sake, please see a vet.
