However, I am a model maker and of course sharp cutting devices are essential for a clean finish. Now, many of us use the Xacto type knife which, works very well indeed. However, the blades whilst not exepenive are not that cheap either. Step forward the surgeon's tool of choice, the Swan-Morton surgical knife. Comfortable to use and most of all you can get boxes of the disposable blades - which are damned sharp - for not much money. A 100 pack is only a few quid so you can always ensure that you have a razor sharp blade in use when working on your model. As far as I'm concerned for model making this is a no brainer. Always going to be sharp, cheap to buy and if you ever get the itch to change career and take up open heart surgery then you will have the tool skills already ingrained.
