It is thick and sorta reminds me of how the paste Elmer's Glue smelled when I was a kid. It has helped his dry paws and he has pressure sores from old age on his ankles and elbows. It has helped a lot. Its thick so it stays on good. You don't need much at all. I will buy this again. If it ever runs out. I have been using it for about a month now and haven't made a dent in it. It is not greasy.
